About me

I Lakshman Singh (Former Guide) come from the village of Kot Kendri, a village situated high above the Ladhya and Sarada rivers in the Champawat district, which often got a mentioned in Jim Corbett’s books – ‘Man Eaters of Kumaon’, and ‘The Temple Tiger and More Man-eaters of Kumaon’.
I speak the local dialect and have extensive knowledge of the area, the jungle paths and tracks in the surrounding hills.

In 2013 I had the opportunity to act as a guide to an Australian Corbett enthusiast wanting to reach the village of Thak.
I have since, been a companion, to this Jim Corbett enthusiast and researcher in search of Jim Corbett’s hunting locations, who strictly follows Jim Corbett’s narrative from original prints .
He has since uncovered contrary to local beliefs and reports based on assumptions, several Jim Corbett locations around Kumaon and Garhwal from numerous repeated visits to areas which have remained relatively undisturbed by human development ( * no versions, reprints and translated versions
of the original print were accepted by him).

This knowledge I acquired is a result of several repeated trips with him since May 2013, this has enabled me to see and acknowledge these hunt areas and locations, as Corbett described them – without folklore additions and local opinions being entertained.
